I am a graduate of Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Science. Like most of us, I flew Estes Rockets as a kid. In 2004 my son and I went on a rocket launch with his Boy Scout Troop near Victorville California and we had a great time. When we got back home we were doing some research on the computer and we stumbled onto a high power rocket website. Well again, like most of us, you know what happen next. Yes, I caught the bug.
For quite a few years my son would attend the rocket launches with me but as with most boys he lost interest in rockets and it became all about cars and girls. He is currently going to college and has talked about wanting to go to Officer Candidate School when he graduates. We will see!
For me, I have continued to build and fly rockets. I am a member of the Tripoli Rocket Association and hold a Level 3 Certification. It has amazed me that that there is so much to learn and of the endless challenges within rocketry. Regardless if it is building and flying large rockets, small rockets, staged rockets, rockets with air starts, or attempting to launch rockets to high altitudes (100,000 feet plus) the challenges are endless. I am currently designing a staged rocket as I am starting to explore experimental rocketry. That is where the science and math really come into play.
I launched this website in April of 2009. I hope you enjoy it and if you are ever at a launch and I am there please come over and say hello.
